Last reviewed 11 October 2026. AI-readable summary ↗

Plain language for a complex stack.

01
SKU
The code a merchant uses for a specific sellable item — for example a bolt in one size. In Shopify a SKU usually identifies a product variant, and it is the value wholesale customers put in their order sheets.
02
Product variant
The exact version of a product that can be bought, such as M8 × 50 mm. Cart lines and draft order lines always point at a variant, which is why SKU matching resolves to one.
03
Draft order
A Shopify order that has been prepared but not completed. It is not a paid order: taxes, shipping, payment terms, invoicing and the conversion into a final order all continue in Shopify.
04
Company and company location
Shopify's B2B records for a business customer and each of its purchasing locations. The location decides which catalog and price apply — it is a buying context, not a warehouse.
05
B2B catalog
The set of products and prices a company location is allowed to buy. Shopify calculates eligibility and price from it; Kaupvik displays the result rather than recreating it.
06
Customer account
The signed-in experience a buyer uses on the merchant's storefront. Buyers never receive Shopify Admin access, and one buyer account cannot see another company's data.
07
Idempotent creation
A safety property: repeating the same confirmed action, for example after a network retry, does not create a second draft order.
08
Access scope
The specific permissions a Shopify app requests at install time. Kaupvik asks for read access to products and companies and write access to draft orders — not write access to products, customers, companies or orders.

Product

What does Kaupvik Quick Order actually do?

It takes a wholesale SKU list — pasted, uploaded as CSV or XLSX, or built by searching Shopify products — matches each line to a Shopify variant, prices the lines in the context of a selected company location, and creates a Shopify draft order for the merchant team once a person confirms the reviewed lines.

It reads products and companies from Shopify and writes draft orders. It does not edit your products, customers or orders.

Which merchants is it built for?

Shopify merchants who sell wholesale or take a mix of B2B and direct orders, and who regularly receive structured lists from customers or their own sales team. If re-typing a customer spreadsheet into Shopify is already a recurring job, the workflow matches.

Shopify Plus is not a requirement. Multi-location and multi-buyer setups are a strong fit, but a store with one company location and staff-entered orders works too.

How is Quick Order priced?

Quick Order V1.0–V1.2 are planned to be free while real merchant use is validated. Pricing after V1.2 is undecided, and no price on this site is a commitment.

What is deliberately not in the first version?

Reading purchase orders from PDF or images, automatic email order intake, ERP write-back, variant-matrix builders, checkout rule engines, buyer approval chains, credit-limit enforcement and migration of historical completed orders are all out of scope for the first release.

They are listed openly so merchants can plan around them instead of discovering a gap after installing.

Does Quick Order change my prices or apply discounts?

No. Shopify remains the source of truth for pricing. A price column in the customer's file is shown next to the current Shopify price so a difference is visible, and the Shopify price is the one that applies.

What happens when a SKU in the list is wrong?

The original line is preserved, the line is marked as needing a decision, and near matches are offered so a person can pick the right variant, correct the SKU or skip the line.

A line that is never resolved cannot be submitted as a valid line. Kaupvik does not silently substitute a different product.

Does creating a draft order mean the customer has been charged?

No. A Shopify draft order is not a paid order. Invoicing, payment terms, taxes, shipping and the conversion into a final order continue in Shopify under the merchant's own settings. Kaupvik does not send invoices or collect payment.

Buyers and availability

Can my customers place these orders themselves yet?

Not yet. The buyer path — signing in to your customer accounts, reviewing a list and adding the reviewed lines to a Shopify cart — is marked In validation on this site. It is published only after the customer-account page hands off a correctly identified B2B cart end to end.

The merchant team workflow is the part that is built and demonstrable today.

Do my buyers need to install anything?

No. Buyers use the merchant's own storefront and customer accounts. They never install the app, never receive Shopify Admin access and never see another company's data.

Is Kaupvik Quick Order available in the Shopify App Store?

Not yet. The app is pre-release: the merchant team workflow is built and demonstrable in a development store, and this site invites merchants to contact Kaupvik about early access.

Data and trust

What data does Quick Order read?

Products and variants, companies and locations, and the minimum customer fields needed to choose a purchasing contact. It requests draft order write access and does not request write access to products, customers, companies or orders.

The security page lists the access scopes and the retention approach in plain language.

Who decides the price a buyer sees?

Shopify does. Kaupvik asks Shopify for eligibility and price in the context of the selected company location and displays the result. It does not run its own pricing engine and does not override catalog rules.

Does Quick Order use AI to guess my order lines?

No. Matching is deterministic and based on the SKU you already use. Every line that needs a judgement is handed to a person, and every write to Shopify follows an explicit confirmation.

AI Native describes how Kaupvik intends to build products over time: suggestions that explain their basis and can be undone. It is not a claim about features that exist today.

Does Kaupvik replace the Shopify admin experience?

No. The app runs inside Shopify Admin with Shopify's own components and respects Shopify staff permissions. Kaupvik does not imitate Shopify's interface, and Shopify remains the system of record for catalog, pricing, customers, orders and payment.

Company

Who builds Kaupvik?

Kaupvik is an independent product studio building Shopify apps for merchants who own their brand and their operations. It is not a Shopify product and has no affiliation or certification to imply.

How do I reach the team?

Email hello@kaupvik.com for anything general and support@kaupvik.com for product help. Both mailboxes are read by the people building the product.

What is planned after Quick Order?

Launch, Operate and Retain are research directions for later Kaupvik apps. They are labelled Exploring on this site: no product page, no install button and no release date is published before something real exists to show.
